The Republic of Moldova is located in southeastern Europe, bordering Ukraine to the east, north, and south, Romania to the west, and the Black Sea less than ten kilometers to the southeast. The country covers an area of more than 30,000 square kilometers and is shaped like an upside down bunch of grapes. It is an unknown small European country.
Moldova has a temperate continental climate with four distinct seasons and sufficient sunshine. The religious belief of the Moldovan citizens is the Orthodox Church, and the national flag is red, yellow and blue, representing the historical origin of Moldova and Romania. The national emblem is a golden eagle (a white stork in one case) whose mouth symbolizes the Orthodox cross. The left paw holds a scepter symbolizing sovereignty, and the right paw holds an olive branch symbolizing peace. On the chest of this giant bird is a huge shield. The upper part is red, symbolizing the fertile fields; the lower part is blue, symbolizing the abundant river. The yellow bull head on the entire shield represents justice; the yellow eight-pointed star between the two bull horns represents national sovereignty.
The official language of Moldova is Moldovan (ie Romanian), and Russian is the lingua franca; the national currency is Lei (Lei, plural; Leu in the singular), and the exchange rate with the RMB is: 3-4 MDL: 1 RMB. The national anthem of Moldova is called: Our Language. The national bird is a white stork with a bunch of grapes in its mouth.
